Hotpot Rules

Safety

● No physical contact with other players.
● Players and spectators must wear eye protection.
● If you are tagged or otherwise must step out of the game, raise your hand and/or blaster and quickly take the shortest path off the field.
● 220 FPS flat cap (taken over a 5 shot average with fresh worker HE darts). Only half-darts, full length darts, and rival balls are allowed. Unsafely constructed or highly FPS variable blasters will not be allowed.
● No lasers, flashlights, or strobe lights, shields, or melee.

Gameplay

● A player is tagged when an enemy dart contacts their person, clothes, hair, blaster, or gear.
● No bang-bang, muzzle taps, or hand tags. There is no minimum engagement distance, but players can surrender at any time.
● Friendly fire and ricochets do not count as tags.
● No scavenging darts during rounds.
● Players can drop/share magazines or blasters when they are in play. Tagged players cannot drop, throw, or pick up anything.

The Gamemode

● Matches are 2v2. No substitutes are allowed to interfere once a round has started.
● 35 darts per team per round. This will be verified by refs before every match.
● Each team will start with their blaster’s muzzles touching a wall or boundary line.
● The referee will confirm with both teams that they are ready, then start the game. (Left side ready, right side ready, whistle)
● The game lasts 60 seconds. At the 15 second mark a bucket in the middle of the field will activate.
● Holding any button on the bucket for 3 seconds will end the game, resulting in a round win for the team holding the bucket.
● 2 points are awarded per player elimination. 3 points are awarded per bucket capture.
● There are no respawns. Tagged players cannot coach.
● The field boundaries are 95x50ft. Once you exit your spawn box you cannot cross out again.

Penalties


● These infractions will be result in a player being considered tagged out of the round:
○ False start
○ Stepping out of bounds
○ Substantially moving cover
○ Blind firing
● These infractions will result in disqualification from the tournament:
○ Intentional physical contact
○ Ignoring referees
○ Clearly ignoring tags
○ Inappropriate conduct
○ Circumventing equipment rules

Tournament Structure


● Pool Play
Bracketing
○ Teams will be divided into 2 separate round robin brackets.
○ Teams will play one round against every team within their pool to try and score as many points as possible.
● Playoffs
○ Teams will be seeded into a single elimination bracket based on their pool play performance.
○ A bye will be awarded to the top scoring teams based on the number of participants.
○ Matches are now a set of 3. The team with more points after the set advances.
